Trends and Tools in the US Overdose Crisis
Abstract: Drug overdose killed more than 100,000 people in the U.S. during 2022. In this presentation, I will provide an overview of my program of research focused on substance use epidemiology and the ongoing U.S. overdose crisis. I will introduce several areas of my research, which aim to characterize the epidemiology of overdose and substance use, particularly in Wisconsin, and evaluate how technology-based harm reduction tools may assist with preventing overdose-related morbidity and mortality.
