Learning Goals:
- The goals of this talk are to understand in the context of populations health the issue of global health inequities, the scope that this is both worldwide in low- and middle-income countries, but also in our own state.
- My next goal is to understand that solutions to these problems require science, medicine and partnering with large varieties of governmental, NGO and medical societies to address the situation and bring the issue of population health to our own stage.
- Finally, to discuss the importance of key partnerships based on developing ownership for health in the patient, rather than the doctor and ownership in the population and societies health in the members of that society rather than in a manner which is dictated from top down.
