Mammography screening for breast cancer: simulation modeling evidence to support guidelines
Mammography screening for breast cancer has been widespread in the U.S. for 40 years. Continuous improvement in screening technology and advances in breast cancer treatment, along with new evidence in other related areas, leads to a need to routinely re-evaluate screening mammography guidelines. The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) is one leading organization that issues screening guidelines. Increasingly, the USPSTF considers simulation modeling evidence in their deliberations as they review screening recommendations. In this talk, I will review simulation modeling data considered by the USPSTF in their draft recommendations for mammography screening released in May 2023 here.
