Amy Cochran Secures Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Grant

Amy Cochran receives PCORI grant.

Project Summary: This project aims to improve the way healthcare systems evaluate the use of risk prediction models, which are tools used to identify patients who might benefit most from specific medical interventions. Traditionally, new interventions are tested through randomized controlled trials, but these trials can be challenging to run due to their complexity and high resource demands. The project team proposes using an alternative approach known as regression discontinuity (RD) designs, which are less resource-intensive yet can almost achieve the same quality of evidence. The main challenge is to develop new RD designs that allow for updates to models and interventions as new information and clinical insights become available.
