Year Started: 2015
Research/interests: Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology, Chronic Disease Epidemiology, and GIS Health Disparities
Interest Statement: I have a background in Biology (undergrad) and public health (Master’s). During my MPH and for a year afterwards, I worked in a public health lab dealing with health disparities and community-based participatory research in St. Louis City. I gained experience in primary data collection, community engagement, and helping run public health studies and health training programs.
Why did you choose UW-Madison for your degree? I did my undergrad here, so I already knew that I liked the University as a whole; but I decided that the department itself is a good fit for me during Welcome Day. I liked the interactions I had with faculty members, and especially with students (both current, and incoming) and felt that I would feel more “at home” than at other Universities I had visited.
What do you hope/plan to do with your degree? I will most likely stay in Academia, but am open to the idea of working for the government.
