Genetic Architecture of Alzheimer’s Related Functional and Structural Brain Aging

Principal Investigator(s):

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is rapidly increasing in prevalence as the population ages.  Although one gene, APOE, has been identified as a risk factor for late-onset AD, as much as 50% of the genetic risk remains unexplained.  This study is following up additional promising genetic variants in a longitudinal cohort study of asymptomatic middle-aged adults with a parent affected by AD and a control sample without a parental history of dementia, which have undergone extensive neuropsychological testing and structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
