The Wisconsin Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) program, known as the Wisconsin Initiative to Promote Healthy Lifestyles (WIPHL), is a demonstration program funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). WIPHL has screened large numbers of patients in primary care clinics – over 90,000 to date. UWPHI is providing the evaluation component, including process evaluation and a six-month follow-up interview with a sample of patients. To date, over 170 interviews have been conducted. Evaluation staff are working closely with program staff on how best to expand the program and provide SBIRT services to adolescents. Robin Moskowitz Lecoanet, JD, is project director for this effort.
