Co-Principal Investigator: Ajay Sethi

Staphylococcus aureus is an important cause of community-acquired and healthcare-associated infections throughout the world. The purpose of this study is to assess the prevalence of methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) among Ugandan adults and to specifically examine risk factors for MRSA carriage, involvement in skin and soft tissue infections, and the impact of HIV status on MRSA carriage and/or clinical involvement. This study will also survey the knowledge attitudes and practices among healthcare providers towards infection control principles and practice in Uganda.
